The Kinect for XBox One Workshop
Recommended Hardware Configuration
For applications using the Kinect for XBox One sensor the Microsoft Recommended Hardware Configuration is:
- 64-bit (x64) processor
- 4 GB Memory (or more)
- Physical dual-core 3.1 GHz (2 logical cores per physical) or faster processor
- USB 3.0 controller dedicated to the Kinect for Windows v2 sensor*
- DX11 capable graphics adapter**
- A Microsoft Kinect for XBox One sensor, which includes a power hub and USB cabling
Generally speaking the faster processor and largest RAM you can afford will be helpful.
Important: Only a single Kinect for XBox One sensor may be attached to a single computer. This is a serious restriction when attempting to develop a low-cost Kinect application with multiple sensors.
If a multiple Kinect for XBox One application is required it will be necessary to develop and implement the necessary networking protocols to communicate between the multiple Kinect sensor computers and a centralized server.
Microsoft has demonstrated using multiple Kinect sensors with multiple computers in their RoomAlive proof of concept project. A RoomAlive Toolkit is available.
